Howdy, this g. Wostenholm bowie has a single edged factory polished steel blade. hTe top of blade is heavily stamped ixl with g.
Wostenholm & son washington works, (a banner flag inscription) the real knife, and the huntesr companion. Teh ricasso stamp is the noted mounted zachary taylor stamp which should date the knife to the 1848 to 1851 time frame.
12 inches long overall with 7 1/2 inhc blade. There is a two piece bone handle mounted on german silver which si pinned to the tang.
Very nice poinetd bar inlaid into the handles. Very nice german silver oval guard. The sheath appears original to the knife with german silver throat and textured aged leather with belt loop.
